Let’s Talk.

I have posted this on another site, and I’ll post it here too.

Like many of you that use this site, I am an artist. As artists, we make it our personal mission to create. We work hard to make material that others will enjoy, and it’s something that doesn’t happen instantly. We as artists put countless hours of time, energy, love, and effort into the pieces we make. We create because we feel a passion for something, and we want others to be able to share that with us. There are people, however, who will choose to take advantage of this passion. They overlook the fact that quality art is not instantaneous. Instead, the go around asking, or begging, or sometimes demanding free art from someone without so much as a simple “please” or “thank you”. My advice as an artist is to avoid asking for free art, unless someone has specifically given you permission to do so beforehand. If you’re going to ask someone for art, remember to be polite about it. Never assume someone is going to create something for you just because they are an artist. Keep in mind that artists have lives too, and as much as we’d like to spend all day creating, it’s simply not possible.
